The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been regularly constructing new education institutions or basically repairing existing ones. There was no exclusion for the academic year 2023-2024. As usual, the Foundation’s gifts to teachers and pupils for the new academic year cover not only the capital’s schools but also regions of Azerbaijan. 22 educational institutions, including 19 schools and 3 preschool establishments, basically repaired and restored, as well as newly constructed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Baku and regions, were commissioned for the use by teachers and pupils in the new academic year. 10 more schools, constructed and repaired by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, are expected to be inaugurated in the course of this academic year.
Assistant to the Azerbaijani President, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov and Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev attended newly constructed and basically repaired school buildings in Goychay, Ismayilli, and Gabala.
Basic repair and restoration works were carried out at Secondary School No.6 in Goychay town, following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Constructed in 1969, the building of Secondary School No.6 in Goychay town had become useless, therefore restoration works were launched by the Foundation here in January 2023. As a result of the works done in a short span of time, an education institution for 624 pupils comprised of 4 buildings – one three-storied, with others being two-storied – was commissioned. 30 classrooms, laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology, rooms for information technologies, military training, labour training rooms for girls and boys, a library, a canteen, assembly and sports halls, and an open-air sports ground were created at the school. The educational institution was provided with necessary furniture and equipment, while subject rooms and laboratories were equipped with visual aids. Greenery was planted in the backyard of the school, and an up-to-date illumination system was installed.
To date, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has carried out construction of schools, nurseries and kindergartens in Goychay town, as well as in Beydovul, Kurdshaban and Alpout villages of Goychay.
Projects of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the field of education have also covered the Ismayilli district. To date, secondary school and kindergartens were commissioned by the Foundation in Ismayilli town, as well as in various villages of the district. Works done by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the new academic year in the Ismayilli district included one more. A new building was constructed here, following the Foundation’s initiative, for Secondary School No.4, meant for 280 pupils. Constructed in 1979, Secondary School No.4 in Ismayilli town had fallen into disrepair during the past period. As a result of the construction works launched by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in January this year, an education institution comprised of 3 buildings was built.
The school building has been provided with necessary equipment, subject rooms, and laboratories with visual aids. An open-air sports ground was also commissioned, along with the sports hall. Improvement and greenery planting works were carried out in the backyard of the school.
Another project of the Foundation associated with education falls to Gabala district’s share. A new building was constructed for Secondary School No.1, following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative, in the settlement of Nij in Gabala.
While Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva were becoming familiar with the works carried out by the Foundation at the Saint Virgin Mary Albanian Church in the settlement of Nij of Gabala district in May 2021, chairperson of the Alban-Udi Christian religious community Robert Mobili had applied to them with regard to repairing the 150 year-old school of the settlement. Later, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation started construction of a new building for School No.1. This was not the first project by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation related to education in Nij settlement. So, the building of Secondary School No.2 was also constructed following the Foundation’s initiative.
Commissioned in the academic year 2023-2024, two-storied building, meant for 200 pupils, of Secondary School No.1 have subject rooms and laboratories that were provided with necessary equipment and visual aids. A library, a canteen, an assembly and sports hall, and an-open sports ground were commissioned for use by pupils and teachers. Improvement and greenery planting works were performed in the backyard of the school.
Construction of a new building meant for 360 pupils for Secondary School No.4 in the settlement of Nij has been completed. Having started as a primary school in 1969, this education institution was turned into a school in 1971. Since 1990, it has been operating as a secondary school. The new building of the school was constructed by the Order of President Ilham Aliyev. The school has 42 rooms, including 3 laboratories, 1 technology, 1 computer rooms, an assembly and sports halls, a library, and a canteen.
Commissioning of new educational institutions with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is another contribution to educating a more knowledgeable generation in the country, and making sure that they receive a better education.
Having approached education with special delicacy from the very moment of its establishment, having declared development of this area as its priority direction in its activity, the Foundation has been providing its support to education by implementing such programmes as “New School to new Azerbaijan”, “Support to Education”, creating education complexes meeting latest standards, providing educational institutions with visual aids aiming to improve the quality of education. 500 schools were constructed and repaired within the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the field of education since 2004.
Contribution made by the Foundation to improving the quality of education, augmenting the material and technical base of schools have resulted in making hundreds of pupils, teachers and parents happy this year too.
