According to We Are Social agency, the number of people using social networks increased significantly worldwide in 2022. For example, there were 2.91 billion active Facebook members worldwide in the first half of 2022. Given the growing number of social media users, MTM (Center for Media Analysis) conducted a survey among citizens to find out their opinions. The survey had 1,250 respondents, 47% of whom were women and 53% of whom were men.
38.1% of respondents who answered the first question use Facebook, 45.6% use Instagram, 9.1% use Tiktok, 1% use Twitter, and 5.4% said they use other social networks. Those who said they don’t use social media accounted for 0.8% of respondents.
The next question was about the impact of social media on respondents’ lives. 6.6% of respondents said they found a job through social media, 1.4% said they married someone they met, and 7.5% said they found a friend they hadn’t seen in years. Social networks have a negative impact on personal relationships, according to 2.4% of respondents, while 40.3% said social media have no impact on their lives. 41.8% of the participants chose the “other” option.
The ability to interact with others is an advantage of social media, according to 13.9% of respondents. 2.7% of participants said social media helps them find friends they haven’t seen in a while, 45.3% said it helps them acquire information fast, and 30.9% said it keeps them at the center of events and innovations. 3.7% of respondents said that social media has no benefit, and 3.5% chose the “other” option.
The opinions of respondents who answered the question about the disadvantages of social media were as follows:
Distracts people from real life – 27.7%;
Causes addictions – 48.2%;
Lowers moral standards – 9%;
Other – 5.1%;
No downside – 10%.
The survey results show that 51% of respondents actively use social media.
