WESTERN AZERBAIJAN COMMUNITY: ARMENIAN COURT DECISION IS DIRECTED AGAINST AZERBAIJAN’S SOVEREIGNTY

The Western Azerbaijan Community expresses its concern regarding a series of anti-peace efforts within and outside Armenia that contradict the positive dynamics observed in the Azerbaijan-Armenia reconciliation process. These efforts follow the historic summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025, with the participation of US President Donald Trump, and run counter to the spirit of the recent meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Abu Dhabi.

The Western Azerbaijan Community has issued a formal statement on the matter.

The statement reads: “In this context, we strongly condemn the provocative ruling by a court in Armenia claiming that the so-called ‘decision on self-dissolution’ of the fictitious entity by an individual named Samvel Shahramanyan was adopted under the use of force or threat and is therefore legally invalid.

This court decision is clearly directed against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. On what grounds and under what mandate does a court in Armenia interfere in the internal affairs of a sovereign state?

The Western Azerbaijan Community also regards this court ruling as part of revanchist activities against peace in Armenia, where parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held this year.

If the Armenian court is genuinely committed to contributing to peace and reconciliation between the two peoples, then it should issue rulings condemning the deportation of Western Azerbaijanis from their ancestral lands and the destruction of cemeteries and mosques.”
