During the telephone conversation, the sides discussed the topical issues of Azerbaijan-UK bilateral agenda, the current situation in the region, as well as the prospects of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hailed the bilateral relations between the two countries, noting the importance of official contacts and visits. The FM informed the British minister about the current situation around the Lachin road. He pointed out that the protests against the illegal economic activity and the misuse of the Lachin road are the legitimate rights of the Azerbaijani people, adding that there is no basis for the claims regarding the blockade and the humanitarian situation, and humanitarian goods are being transported and about 2,000 vehicles have used the road so far.

FM Bayramov also informed Minister Leo Docherty about Armenia’s not fulfilling its obligations, the obstacles and provocations by Armenia hampering the post-conflict normalization process, as well as its boycotting the latest Moscow meeting on the peace agreement. The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan is interested in the normalization process as a state that is advancing the peace agenda and carrying out reconstruction works in the region.

British Minister Leo Docherty, in turn, strongly condemned the armed attack committed against Azerbaijani embassy in Iran and expressed his condolences. He stressed the necessity of eliminating the obstacles that prevent from ensuring peace in the region, and resuming negotiations.
