U.S. STATE OF UTAH ADOPTS PROCLAMATION ON AZERBAIJAN

The Senate of the U.S. State of Utah has adopted a proclamation commending the high level of peaceful coexistence and interfaith harmony in Azerbaijan.

The proclamation notes that Azerbaijan was the first secular democratic republic, as well as the first country to grant women the right to vote in the Turkic and Muslim world.

The proclamation also underlines the close relations of the U.S. and the state of Utah with Azerbaijan, noting that Azerbaijan promotes democracy and economic diversity.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the U.S. Khazar Ibrahim met with President of the US State of Utah Senate Stuart Adams, Speaker of the Utah House of Representatives Brad Wilson and Senator Michael McKell at the Utah State Senate.

During the meetings, the sides exchanged views on the development of bilateral, especially inter-parliamentary relations between the US, the state of Utah and Azerbaijan, as well as discussed the growing influence of Azerbaijan in the region, the country’s foreign policy priorities and innovative steps taken in the field of economy.

Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim also attended the sessions of the Senate of the U.S. State of Utah and highlighted the bloody events of 20 January tragedy, as well as their role and importance in the history of Azerbaijan.
