TURKISH AMBASSADOR INFORMED ABOUT REFORMS IN PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS IN AZERBAIJAN

Sabina Aliyeva, Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, met with Birol Akgün, Turkish Ambassador to the country.

During the meeting, the Ombudsman provided an overview of reforms carried out in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms in the country. The Commissioner highlighted the importance of studying the best international experiences in the field of human rights. She also pointed out the fruitful cooperation with ombudsmen and national human rights institutions of foreign countries, as well as collaboration with international organizations in this regard.

Noting that comprehensive relations with the fraternal country of Türkiye are at the level of strategic partnership, Sabina Aliyeva praised the effective cooperation with relevant institutions of Türkiye in human rights such as Ombudsman Institution and Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye.

The sides also hailed the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye within international organizations, noting that the two brotherly nations always support each other in international organizations.

Ambassador Birol Akgün emphasized that during his diplomatic tenure in Azerbaijan, he would spare no effort to further enhance the existing alliance relationship between the two countries.
