Three calves were born from the bisons brought to the Shahdag National Park as part of “reintroduction of bisons in Azerbaijan” project jointly implemented by IDEA Public Union, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Azerbaijan office.
“The number of bison calves in the National Park have reached 8. The babies are doing well and have already joined the herd by adapting to the local conditions, said Arzu Babayeva, an employee of the Biological Diversity Protection Service.
“The 36 European bisons brought to Azerbaijan from France, Belgium and Germany, have currently reached 44.
According to her, The European bisons have been included into the third edition of the Red Book of Azerbaijan”.
