SPEAKER OF MILLI MAJLIS: DOUBLE STANDARDS, INTERFERENCE IN INTERNAL AFFAIRS YIELD NEGATIVE EFFECTS THAT COUNTRIES FACE NOWADAYS

“Unfortunately, groundless pressure, double standards, and interference in internal affairs yield negative effects that countries face nowadays. We could achieve our goals by using all opportunities of parliamentary diplomacy, guided by constructive dialogue and cooperation. Today’s parliamentary conference is a clear expression of our common intention,” said Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament, as she addressed the international parliamentary conference “Parliamentarism: Traditions and Perspectives” in Baku.

Sahiba Gafarova recalled Azerbaijan’s 44-day Patriotic War in the fall of 2020 and the local anti-terrorist measures in September 2023, which put an end to almost thirty years of occupation and injustice by ensuring the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

She noted that simultaneously, it opened the way for the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, initiated by Azerbaijan.

Sahiba Gafarova underscored the excellent organization of COP29 and its significant outcomes. “Milli Majlis hosted the parliamentary meeting within COP29, thereby contributing to this vital process.”
