SABAH NEWSPAPER: ECO CLEAN ENERGY CENTER IN BAKU TO BOOST FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CRISIS

The Clean Energy Center of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), to be established in Baku, will contribute to regional energy security, improve the efficient use of energy resources, and serve as a new driver in the fight against the global climate crisis, according to the article published by the Turkish newspaper Sabah, dedicated to the outcomes of the 17th ECO Summit held in Khankendi.

The publication quotes President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who announced that the ratification of the founding documents for the Clean Energy Center in Azerbaijan is in its final stages.

“The founding agreement was submitted last month to the Grand National Assembly (Türkiye’s parliament – ed.) and will soon be reviewed by the Foreign Affairs Committee,” the article notes, recalling that in addition to Türkiye and Azerbaijan, the initiative has also been supported by Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

The article emphasizes the untapped potential of ECO member states in the field of renewable energy.

“Coordination and close cooperation among ECO countries in the energy sector are of particular importance, underscoring the strategic role of the future Clean Energy Center in Baku,” the paper concludes.
