The Be-200 amphibious plane of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry has landed at the airport of Adana, Turkey, where a devastating earthquake occurred on Monday, according to TASS.
“Currently, a Be-200 plane of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry has arrived at Adana airport for participation in fire-fighting operations,” a source in emergency services told TASS.
On Tuesday, the Russian Emergencies Ministry said that on instructions from Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov a Be-200 amphibious plane would be sent to Turkey to help extinguish a strong fire at the port of Iskenderun.
More than 100 rescuers from the Russian Emergencies Ministry, dispatched to Turkey, are conducting search and rescue operations in the province of Kahramanmaras, which was most affected by the earthquake. An additional group of rescuers will be sent to Turkey.
An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 hit the province of Kahramanmaras in southeastern Turkey on Monday. The tremors, followed by hundreds of aftershocks, were felt in ten Turkish provinces, as well as in neighboring states, including Syria.
