
On January 15, a meeting of the Organizing Committee established to oversee preparations for the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in Baku was held at the Cabinet of Ministers.
Opening the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Samir Sharifov outlined the key tasks facing the committee, which were defined in accordance with Presidential Order No. 711 dated September 8, 2025. He emphasized that hosting the IsDB Group Annual Meetings in Baku from June 16 to 19, 2026, is of great importance in strengthening Azerbaijan’s international standing.
Participants discussed the work already completed, the current status of preparations, and priority tasks along with their implementation timeline. The meeting also reviewed issues requiring special attention, the draft Action Plan for the annual meetings, and other agenda items, with relevant decisions adopted.
The Islamic Development Bank, comprising 57 member countries, was established in 1973 and is headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Azerbaijan has been a member of the Bank since 1992.
