“During the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Baku, the Russian delegation was received by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and then the importance of direct dialogue between the media representatives and officials engaged in media issues was stressed,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mariya Zakharova said on the sidelines of the roundtable meeting on “Russia-Azerbaijan: current issues of media cooperation.
“We have a practice of consultations between foreign ministries, in particular, and we discuss media problems with Azerbaijani colleagues. But without the direct communication between journalists including the dialogue with representatives of the executive power too, of course, all this would not be complete. We have to conduct such meetings regularly,” said the representative of Russian Foreign Ministry.
Maria Zakharova reminded that President Ilham Aliyev invited representatives of the Russian media. “Azerbaijan`s hospitality is not a secret. I think that Russian journalists will be happy to respond to this proposal, and we will hold such a meeting in Azerbaijan as well.”
