As part of events to celebrate the “Year of Shusha” in Azerbaijan, the country’s Embassy in Italy has organized the presentation of the book “Shusha – the cultural capital of Azerbaijan” published in Italian in the city of Soverato, Calabria region.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy Rashad Aslanov, Soverato City Mayor Daniele Vacca, Vice Mayor Emanuele Amoruso, Chair of Town Council Salvatore Riccio, Secretary General of Italian Institute for Asia (ISIA) Domenico Palmieri, as well as the city residents and schoolchildren attended the event.
Describing Azerbaijan and Italy as strategic allies, Mayor Daniele Vacca said that Soverato attaches great importance to partnership relations with Azerbaijan and expressed their keenness to further deepen the cooperation.
Co-author of the book, Italian professor Daniel Pommier Vincelli briefly informed the guests about Azerbaijan, saying that the country strategically positioned between Asia and Europe, acting as a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures.
Describing Azerbaijan’s city of Shusha as the piece of the world’s cultural heritage, Ambassador Rashad Aslanov said that the city was liberated by Azerbaijan after 30 years of occupation. He mentioned that Shusha was declared the Cultural capital of the Turkic World for 2023.
The diplomat also described the involvement of Italian companies in the restoration of Azerbaijani cultural capital as a bright example of friendship between the two countries.
