Following preliminary findings from the investigation into the crash of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) flight J2-8243, an “Embraer 190” aircraft operating the Baku-Grozny route, which point to physical and technical external interference, and in light of potential risks to flight safety, flights from Baku to the following Russian airports will be suspended from December 28, 2024, by decision of the Azerbaijan State Civil Aviation Agency:
– Mineralnye Vody
– Sochi
– Volgograd
– Ufa
– Samara
Previously, on December 25, AZAL suspended flights from Baku to Grozny and Makhachkala.
For safety reasons, flights to these destinations, including Grozny and Makhachkala, have also been halted by other airlines.
Passengers with tickets for these routes are entitled to a full refund or free ticket exchange.
