
A flag handover ceremony was held on the final day of the individual competitions at the World Judo Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.
The flag of the International Judo Federation (IJF) was ceremoniously presented to Azerbaijan, which will host the World Championships in 2026.
The flag was received by Vice President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, Olympic champion Elnur Mammadli.
Laszlo Toth, President of the European Judo Union, Lisa Allan, Secretary General of the International Judo Federation, and other officials attended the event.
The World Championships will be held in Baku from July 9 to 16, 2026. Individual competitions will run from July 9 to 15, and the mixed team event will take place on July 16.
This will be the second time Baku hosts the prestigious tournament, having first hosted the World Judo Championships in 2018.
