Chairman of the Board of Azercosmos Samaddin Asadov has met with head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko.
They exchanged views on the issues of mutual interest, including the further expansion of relations with European countries in the field of space technologies, and the study of advanced experience.
Speaking about the space sector, Samaddin Asadov emphasized the role of European partners in launching Azerbaijan’s satellites into orbit, and said that there is great potential for further development of mutual relations in this sector.
Touching upon the European Union’s relations with Azerbaijan, Peter Michalko hailed the current level of cooperation. During the meeting, it was highly appreciated that the European Union Agency for the Space Programme is a partner in the expansion of the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) with the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The two also discussed the preparation process for the International Astronautical Congress, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan on October 2-6. The sides underlined that the Congress will be a global platform for Azerbaijan in the field of space, especially for cooperation with European partners.
