BAKU SUMMONS IRANIAN AMBASSADOR OVER TERRORIST ATTACK ON AZERBAIJANI EMBASSY IN IRAN

On January 27, Iranian Ambassador Seyed Abbas Mousavi was called in to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan after the terrorist attack on the country’s embassy in Tehran.

At the meeting, the terrorist attack on the embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran was strongly condemned, and the ambassador was told that attacks on diplomatic missions are unacceptable. It was emphasized that, based on the ‘Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations’, it is the responsibility of a host country to protect the building of the diplomatic mission from all kinds of attacks and ensure the safety of its employees.

In this regard, the Iranian authorities were urged to promptly bring to justice the perpetrator of the terrorist attack, conduct a thorough investigation, identify and punish other participants involved in organizing and committing the crime.

At the meeting, regret was also expressed that a planned anti-Azerbaijani campaign has recently been carried out in Iran, which further strains the already complex relations.

Iranian Ambassador Seyed Abbas Mousavi strongly condemned the terrorist attack against the Azerbaijani embassy, and expressed deep regret on this occasion, as well as deep condolences to the family of the deceased, the government and people of Azerbaijan.

The ambassador also stressed that the relevant authorities of Iran immediately responded to the incident, and the relevant law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the matter, adding that the details will be released after the completion of the investigation.
