BAKU HOSTS SECOND MEETING OF HEADS OF OTS MAPPING INSTITUTIONS

On December 3, the second meeting of the Heads of Mapping Institutions of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) began in Baku.

The meeting brings together representatives from institutions specializing in geodesy, cartography, land management, cadastre, remote sensing, and geographic information systems from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, as well as Hungary and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which hold observer status.

Officials from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Agency for Geodesy and Cartography under the ministry, and specialists from other relevant institutions attended the event.

The Baku-hosted meeting will review the implementation status of the targets set at the first meeting of the Heads of Mapping Institutions, held in Ankara on September 30 – October 1, 2024, and discuss opportunities to strengthen cooperation, as well as set and implement new objectives.

This event reflects Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts in environmental protection and sustainable management, as well as its commitment to enhancing cooperation in geodesy, cartography, and geographic information systems. The initiative is also linked to the upcoming World Environment Day and the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to be held in Baku in 2026.

The meeting will conclude with the adoption of a Declaration.
