BAKU AIRPORT APPROACHES NEW RECORD: OVER 4 MILLION PASSENGERS IN 7 MONTHS OF 2024

Heydar Aliyev International Airport continues to set new records. In July 2024, the airport served over 815,000 passengers on 6,171 flights, marking a 23% increase compared to July last year when 663,000 people passengers were served.

Of the passengers transported on international routes, 52% flew with foreign airlines, while the remainder traveled with the national carrier. Foreign airlines carried more than 380,000 passengers, and Azerbaijan Airlines transported 351,000 passengers. The national carrier operated 745 flights to Nakhchivan, serving over 85,000 passengers during this period.

There was also a significant increase in transit passengers, nearly tripling compared to July 2023, reaching 36,000 people. This underscores Baku Airport’s growing strategic importance as a transit hub.

The most popular international destinations from Baku include Istanbul, Moscow, Dubai, Tbilisi, and Abu Dhabi, with over 320,000 passengers traveling on these routes.

Overall, in the first seven months of 2024, Baku Airport served more than 4.204 million passengers, a 36.2% increase from the same period last year.
