Latif Akça, Civil Organizations Coordinator for the Presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), expressed pride in Azerbaijan’s exemplary organization of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Speaking to journalists in Lefkosa, Akça commended COP29, which he attended as a civil society representative from member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
He highlighted the importance of youth and civil society in addressing climate challenges during discussions in Baku. “I had the opportunity to present the efforts of the TRNC government in environmental protection. Our country is prepared for international collaboration to safeguard the environment,” Akça said, noting the Eastern Mediterranean’s vulnerability to climate change.
Akça also thanked Aygun Aliyeva, Executive Director of the Agency for State Support to NGOs, for facilitating the participation of TRNC representatives in the COP29 climate summit.
