AZERBAIJAN’S INDEPENDENCE DAY MARKED IN ANKARA

A solemn event marking May 28 – Independence Day of Azerbaijan was arranged at the Beştepe Congress and Culture Center located at Türkiye’s Presidential Administration Complex.

Co-organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ankara and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, the event was attended by state and government officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Türkiye, heads and employees of Azerbaijani companies, scientists and cultural figures, as well as cadets of military schools.

The event began with the congratulatory message of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the people of Azerbaijan.

In his remarks, Rashad Mammadov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Türkiye, provided insight into the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and its important role in the history of the country’s statehood.

Noting that the brotherly Türkiye’s support has always given new momentum to the development of Azerbaijan, the diplomat added: “We felt the support of the 85 million-strong Turkish people and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the Patriotic War. Thus, the Azerbaijan-Türkiye unity once again manifested itself. Our people and our army felt that they were not alone. There is no force that can separate us, because we are children of the same nation,” Mammadov emphasized.

Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on Independence Day.

Speaking at the event, Cevdet Yilmaz, Turkish Vice President, expressed his confidence that the unshakable unity between Ankara and Baku would continue.

The event also featured the screening of a video about Azerbaijan, followed by a concert program.
