AZERBAIJAN’S CEC DELEGATION TO MONITOR PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN UZBEKISTAN

A delegation led by Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) departed Saturday for the Republic of Uzbekistan at the invitation of Uzbekistan’s CEC Chairman Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev, to observe the parliamentary elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Supreme Assembly) of Uzbekistan scheduled for October 27.

As part of the trip, the Azerbaijani CEC Chairman will hold bilateral meetings with his Uzbek counterpart, as well as heads of organizations involved in election observation and election management bodies of foreign countries. The meetings will revolve around the prospects for developing cooperation between the two countries’ election authorities, as well as new opportunities for cooperation in various election-related fields, and issues of mutual interest.

Azerbaijan’s CEC delegation will monitor polling stations in Uzbekistan’s capital city Tashkent and its regions.
