Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Russian Ambassador on Special Assignments Pavel Knyazev.
The parties discussed matters pertaining to the bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as the current situation in the region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the positive impact of the existing relations between Azerbaijan and Russia on enhancing cooperation within regional and international platforms. The sides explored the prospects of cooperation within a number of international platforms.
FM Bayramov provided an insight into the negotiation process, as well as the preparatory efforts conducted by Azerbaijan within the hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) this year.
Highlighting the current situation in the region during the post-conflict period, as well as Azerbaijan’s endeavours toward peace and reconstruction, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov mentioned the challenges posed by external attempts to impose unilateral positions on the region, which could potentially hinder the peace process.
In this regard, FM Bayramov expressed concerns regarding the forthcoming EU-Armenia-US joint conference scheduled for April 5, stressing the need for transparency and inclusivity in such initiatives, as well as over actions that might fuel provocations in Armenia, where a revanchist sentiment prevails.
Despite the existing challenges, Bayramov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s unwavering determination to pursue activities aimed at ensuring regional peace and stability.
During the meeting, the pair also exchanged views on other issues of mutual concern.
