AZERBAIJANI FM MEETS WITH HIS ANGOLAN COUNTERPART

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with his Angolan counterpart Tete António on the sidelines of the 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda.

During the meeting, FM Jeyhun Bayramov mentioned that cooperation with the countries of the African continent, including Angola, remains one of the important vectors in Azerbaijan’s foreign policy.

The FMs pointed out the ample opportunities for expanding the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Angola in political, economic, educational, humanitarian, trade and energy fields. In this regard, the two underscored the benefits of improving the legal framework between the two countries and holding consultations between the foreign ministries. The sides hailed the Azerbaijan-Angola cooperation based on mutual support within the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and other multilateral cooperation platforms.

The two also exchanged views on the history and prospects for successful cooperation, especially in the educational domain and training of specialists in various areas.

The participation of Angolan students in the scholarship programs provided by Azerbaijan for the citizens of the Non-Aligned Movement’s members was commended.

Both ministers emphasized that the organization of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku would be important for further boosting bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the FMs also explored other issues of mutual interest.
