As part of his working visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Sameh Hassan Shoukry.
During the meeting, the sides recalled with pleasure the visit of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Azerbaijan in January this year, noting that such high-level reciprocal visits are important for the development of relations.
The sides noted that great importance is attached to the development of historically friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt, as well as the expansion of cooperation in various fields.
The FMs also discussed the opportunities for cooperation between the two countries within the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other international organizations, emphasizing the importance of mutual support. In this regard, FM Bayramov underscored the importance of the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group on the COVID-19 pandemic, which will be held in Baku in March.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the Egyptian counterpart about Azerbaijan’s initiatives aimed at establishing peace, security, and cooperation in the post-conflict period in the region. The FM mentioned that despite these efforts, Armenia continues to commit provocations and undermine the process.
The sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation in various spheres, including trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
