Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov have today had a phone talk.
The telephone conversation saw discussions revolved around existing Russia-Azerbaijan bilateral relations, measures to ensure peace and stability in the region including the current situation on the Lachin road.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed regret that the Russian peacekeepers, in violation of the trilateral statement, had not yet complied with the demands of the protesters to halt misuse of the Lachin road and illegal economic operations in the Azerbaijani lands where the Russian peacekeepers had been deployed. He mentioned that claims on the blockade and humanitarian situation are ungrounded.
Jeyhun Bayramov let his Russian counterpart know that although Armenia had kept the Azerbaijani territories under occupation for 30 years, Azerbaijan came forward with an offer shortly after the war to establish and normalize relations with Armenia, made every effort to achieve agreement within short span of time on delimitation, opening of transport and communication lines and peace treaty with Armenia. The Armenian provocations derail the process in spite of this.
During the telephone conversation, the parties also exchanged their views on other issues of mutual interest.
