AZERBAIJAN, WORLD BANK EXPLORE COOPERATION ON DIGITALIZATION OF PUBLIC FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Himalay Mamishov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Finance, met with a delegation led by Serdar Yilmaz, Practice Manager for the Public Finance and Procurement Unit at the World Bank, who is on a visit to the country.

As a follow-up to the previous meeting held at the Ministry of Finance in October, the current discussions focused on the medium-term expenditure framework and results-based budgeting mechanisms, digital platforms applied in public financial management, as well as the project to assess digital solutions and information systems implemented with the support of the World Bank.

Deputy Minister Himalay Mamishov provided detailed information about the innovations implemented in Azerbaijan’s public financial management and the digital platforms.

According to him, the document “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development” supports digital transformation in all areas, and these initiatives serve the development of sustainable, transparent financial management.

In his turn, Serdar Yilmaz hailed the efforts of Azerbaijani Government towards digital transformation and modernization of state financial systems, adding that the scheduled project would create new opportunities for sustainable and transparent financial management in the country.

The sides also exchanged views on the six main modules within the Project: identification of information systems and digital technologies in the field of public financial management, customization of the ICT management system, infrastructure needs, cybersecurity level, interoperability, and the AI readiness assessment.

Subsequently, they emphasized the importance of joint activities and coordination for the successful implementation of the project, and agreed on practical steps for the next stages.
