AZERBAIJAN, UAE EXPLORE PROSPECTS FOR BILATERAL AND REGIONAL MATTERS

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates for Political Affairs Lana Zaki Anwar Zaki Nusseibeh on the sidelines of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization held in the city of Khankendi.

During the meeting, the sides underlined that the close friendly and fraternal relationship between the heads of state has created a solid foundation for the development of bilateral ties. They also highlighted the role of the political consultation mechanism between the two countries’ Foreign Ministries in advancing the strategic partnership.

The sides lauded mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, investment, energy, and humanitarian affairs, as well as within international organizations and platforms such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the UN Climate Change Conference.

The meeting also discussed successful joint projects in the field of alternative energy, and the results achieved were highly praised.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information on the rehabilitation and reconstruction work in the liberated territories, the return of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their native lands, and the serious threat posed by landmines to these processes.

He commended the UAE’s support for humanitarian demining and reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.

The sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
