AZERBAIJAN TO JOIN INTERNATIONAL ABILYMPICS IN FRANCE FOR FIRST TIME

“Azerbaijan will for the first time compete at the 10th International Abilympics 2023,” President of Azerbaijan National Abilympics Federation Ilgar Rahimov said at a press conference in Baku.

“Representing Azerbaijan in the 13 vocational categories, the country`s hopes will be pinned on 15 contesters,” he added.

The vocational skills competitions specifically designed for persons with disabilities, to be held in the French city of Metz on March 24-25, will bring together dozens of nations, nearly 1500 participants (contestants, judges, experts) and about 50,000 visitors over 2 days, for a vocational skills competition at the highest level.

Organized by the Abilympics France association in partnership with WorldSkills France, the aim of this event is to reveal the skills of people with disabilities, so that the disability disappears letting professional skills shine through.

The first Abilympics competition was held in Tokyo in 1981 to commemorate the United Nations` International Year of Disabled Persons (IYDP).
