AZERBAIJAN STANDS READY TO SUPPORT DIPLOMATIC SOLUTION OF ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT, YALCHIN RAFIYEV SAYS

On August 25, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev attended and delivered a speech at the Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the session, concerns were expressed over the ongoing military escalation and humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. The speakers emphasized the urgent need to take immediate and decisive steps to put an end to the situation.

In his remarks, Yalchin Rafiyev emphasized the importance of achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and creating conditions for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region. He underlined that Azerbaijan supports the settlement of the conflict on the basis of the “two-state” principle, in line with the norms and principles of international law, including the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Rafiyev further stressed that Azerbaijan, as an active member of the OIC, stands ready to contribute to the diplomatic resolution of the Palestine-Israel conflict. Simultaneously, it was noted that Azerbaijan would continue to provide its assistance to alleviate the humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people.
