AZERBAIJAN JOINS GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF CHESS ASSOCIATION OF TURKIC-SPEAKING COUNTRIES

The General Assembly of the Chess Association of Turkic-Speaking Countries was held in Gaziantep, Türkiye.

The meeting celebrated the successful organization of the U16 team chess tournament in Gaziantep for Turkic nations, with discussions focused on expanding future cooperation through joint projects and events, including plans for more tournaments in 2026.

The member federations of the Association announced that a comprehensive program for substantive engagement is scheduled for approval in the forthcoming years.

Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Ilaha Gadimova.

The Chess Association of Turkic-Speaking Countries, which joined the International Chess Federation last year, is currently chaired by the Turkish Chess Federation. From 2026, the chairmanship will transfer to the Kazakhstan Chess Federation. The secretariat has been entrusted to Ilaha Gadimova, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
