An event celebrating the 20th anniversary of re-establishment of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) has been held in Baku.
First, the event participants watched a video dedicated to the 20th anniversary of AGF’s re-establishment.
Addressing the event, AGF Vice-President Altay Hasanov said that the federation has passed a long and glorious path in the past 20 years.
Emphasizing that Azerbaijani gymnastics has made great achievements since First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva has led the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Hasanov said: “Our athletes have participated in five Olympic games over the past time, winning medals in world championships and other major competitions.”
“AGF is an active member of International and European Gymnastics Federations. We are confident that our gymnasts will achieve new and greater achievements by continuing the traditions.”
Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov said that 2022 was a momentous year in terms of many anniversaries for the country’s sports, adding that Azerbaijan has also celebrated 30th anniversary of the establishment of the National Olympics Committee this year.
Vice-President of Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade congratulated the participants on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of AGF’s re-establishment. “Today, AGF is one of the world’s leading gymnastics federations. Azerbaijan has hosted the most important international gymnastics tournaments at the highest level,” Huseynzade added.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Mariana Vasileva emphasized that great achievements have been made in gymnastics over the past years. She also thanked First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for such high level of development achieved in gymnastics in Azerbaijan.
The event also featured the presentation ceremony of the book “20 years in development” reflecting the 20 years of AGF’s successful activity.
