
Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to discuss the strategic partnership between the two countries, joint regional projects, and economic cooperation.
Hailing the frequent contacts and reciprocal visits between the two friendly and neighboring countries, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed confidence that the visit of the Azerbaijani Speaker would contribute to the further expansion of relations between the two countries and their parliaments.
The parties also commended the Georgian-Azerbaijani relations, which are developing successfully in all areas, noting that these ties have grown stronger and elevated to the level of strategic partnership.
The Georgian Prime Minister praised the strategic relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan, highlighting their foundation in centuries-old friendly relations and good neighborliness.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova conveyed President Ilham Aliyev’s greetings to Prime Minister Kobakhidze, who in turn asked Gafarova to extend his greetings to the Azerbaijani President.
During the meeting, the parties noted that the exemplary political relations between the two countries have led to successful cooperation in all other areas, including the economic sphere. Azerbaijani-Georgian friendship and strategic partnership have also created opportunities to implement major energy and transport projects, which have become an important factor not only in the South Caucasus but also in the wider region. The sides also highlighted the importance of interaction in the cultural and humanitarian domains.
Sahiba Gafarova updated the Prime Minister on the extensive relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Highlighting parliamentary interaction, the sides praised the strong ties between the legislative bodies at both bilateral and trilateral levels and underscored the importance of further deepening cooperation within international organizations.
The two also acknowledged the importance of the memorandum of cooperation signed between the two parliaments.
The meeting also addressed the current situation in the region. The pair emphasized the importance of ensuring lasting peace and stability for the future development of the region.
