
On February 24, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with delegations from Türkiye, led by Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly, and from Georgia, led by Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of the Azerbaijan–Türkiye alliance and the Azerbaijan–Georgia strategic partnership, as well as regional security issues.
The sides underscored the importance of enhancing interparliamentary cooperation, particularly by maintaining regular contacts between the foreign affairs committees. They expressed confidence that the 10th meeting of the Foreign Relations Committees of the Azerbaijani, Turkish, and Georgian parliaments would further strengthen relations among the three countries.
The officials noted that trilateral cooperation formats among the foreign and defense ministries of the three states contribute to promoting peace, stability, security, and prosperity in the region. Discussions also covered energy security, transport and communications projects, the development of the Middle Corridor, and regional economic integration.
The parties exchanged views on ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region in the post-conflict period, the normalization process, and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in this context. The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister briefed the Georgian and Turkish officials on the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace and normalization process, as well as Azerbaijan’s efforts and expectations in this regard.
