AZERBAIJAN COMMUNITY: THIS IS A DIRECT PROVOCATION AGAINST AZERBAIJAN’S RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL DIGNITY

“A video circulating on social media shows a blogger filming the remnants of a historic Azerbaijani mosque in the Tepebashi district of Yerevan. The footage reveals that the mosque has been turned into a venue for alcohol consumption. This is a direct provocation against the religious and cultural dignity of the Azerbaijani people,” the Western Azerbaijan Community said in its statement.

The statement further asserts that Armenia’s deliberate destruction of Azerbaijani cultural heritage and the erasure of Azerbaijani traces in its territory constitute a blatant violation of international law, including the 1954 Hague Convention and relevant UNESCO resolutions. Such actions severely obstruct efforts to achieve peace and reconciliation in the region.

“We strongly condemn the destruction of the Tepebashi Mosque and the disgraceful misuse of its remnants. We urge UNESCO and other international organizations to take immediate action, including pressuring Armenia to restore and protect the mosque and other destroyed Azerbaijani monuments.

We demand that the Armenian government immediately fulfill its obligations to restore and preserve all Azerbaijani cultural monuments that have been destroyed or falsified,” the statement concluded.
