AZERBAIJAN BEGINS MONITORING IN AREAS WHERE RUSSIAN PEACEKEEPERS ARE STATIONED

As a result of the discussions held with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent on December 3 and 7, from December 10, a delegation consisting of experts from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy and “AzerGold” Closed Joint-Stock Company will begin preliminary monitoring of the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits in the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed, as well as the environmental and other secondary consequences arising from it.

According to the joint statement of the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, during the monitoring, on-site inspection of mineral deposits, especially Gizilbulag gold and Demirli copper-molybdenum deposits, monitoring in different directions, organization of cadastral accounting of property, assessment of potential damage and risks to the environment, underground and surface water sources are planned.
