
As part of his official visit to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with President of the Algerian National People’s Assembly Ibrahim Boughali.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Algeria, priorities within the framework of interparliamentary relations, as well as regional issues.
Both parties underlined the importance of mutual visits and emphasized the broad potential for further strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Chairman Ibrahim Boughali fondly recalled his participation in the Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network in 2022 and the meetings held by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova during her visit to Algeria.
The meeting highlighted the significance of cooperation in the political, economic, and humanitarian fields, as well as people-to-people contacts. The sides also noted the successful collaboration between the two countries within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international organizations.
It was emphasized that interparliamentary ties, the activities of friendship groups, and reciprocal visits play an important role in strengthening bilateral relations. The meeting also noted the effective cooperation between both parliaments within international parliamentary organizations and their mutual support in these platforms.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed Ibrahim Boughali on the post-conflict situation in the region, the ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts, and the steps taken by Azerbaijan to advance the peace process.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on potential new areas of cooperation and other regional issues of mutual interest.
