Formula 1 has signed a deal with RacingForce to make helmet cameras available for all drivers on the 2023, according to RacingNews365.
Known as the ‘Driver’s Eye’, it is an FIA-homologated micro camera that is eight millimetres in diameter and weighing 1.43 grams, and was made possible thanks to a collaboration between RacingForce companies Bell Helmets and Zeronoise.
It is positioned at eye-level on the protective padding on the inside of the driver’s helmet. The technology innovation enables TV viewers to see the true perspective of the drivers through their visors at any point during a weekend.
Originally they were only available to drivers that used Bell Helmets, but now manufacturers RacingForce have opened up the technology to be used with any helmet maker.
This means drivers that use Stilo, Schuberth, or Arai helmets can now use the camera, providing the helmet has been homologated for use with the technology.
