Abbas Abbasov, Executive Director of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) participated in the 35th session of the United Nations (UN) Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent, which began at the UN headquarters in New York.
The aim of the event is to exchange views on the harm caused by colonial policies to people of African descent..
Addressing the event, Abbas Abbasov highlighted the group`s international activities and presented an overview of the current situation in colonial regions, highlighting the challenges faced by African-descended populations residing there.
The Executive Director underlined BIG’s commitment to supporting their struggle for independence in accordance with international law and reiterated the organization’s intention to continue calling on relevant international organizations to address these issues.
