
Many people in Tuscany got a nasty scare on Monday when they were woken up by an earthquake whose epicentre was 3km from the province of Florence town of Marradi, The quake struck at 5:10 and had a 4.8 magnitude, ANSA reports citing the National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV).
People in Marradi took to the streets due to fears that buildings might collapse.
At the time of writing there were no reports of injuries or major damage.
The quake was also felt in parts of the neighbouring region of Emilia Romagna especially the provinces of Forli-Cesena and Ravenna.
