1 KILLED, 14 INJURED IN BLAST IN SW PAKISTAN

At least one person was killed and 14 others injured in a blast in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province on Monday, local officials said, according to Xinhua.

The explosion occurred in Chitkan area of Panjgur district, targeting civilians. Security forces cordoned off the area shortly after the incident and launched search and clearance operations, a local police official told Xinhua.

Wazir Ahmed Baloch, medical superintendent of the Teaching Hospital Panjgur, said the hospital received 14 injured persons along with one body.

He added that five of the injured were in critical condition and have been referred to Karachi’s Civil Hospital for advanced treatment, while others are being treated locally.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Authorities said an investigation is underway to determine the nature of the blast.
