EUROPEAN CULTURE TV CHANNEL AIRS REPORTAGE ON AZERBAIJAN’S OIL HISTORY

The European culture TV channel ARTE has broadcast a reportage headlined “Azerbaijan – Land of fire and oil” highlighting Azerbaijan’s oil history.

Broadcast in French, the reportage mentioned that the country is rich oil and natural gas resources.

The reportage drew the readers` attention to Robert Nobel’s arrival in Baku and the establishment of the Nobel Brothers company in Baku in 1875 by the Nobel brothers.

The author hailed the fact that for the first time in the world Baku introduced an industrial method of oil extraction.

The reportage emphasized that Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, an Azerbaijani millionaire, philanthropist, founder of the first girls’ school in the Muslim East was one of the first national industrialists.

The reportage also noted that oil is used in Azerbaijan not only as energy, but also in healthcare and art.
