HEYDAR ALIYEV CENTER PLAYS HOST TO “BETWEEN EARTH AND SKY” EXHIBITION

The Azerbaijani-Latvian joint art exhibition entitled “Between Earth and Sky” was opened at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

The event was attended by visiting President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits, assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Alakbarov, Latvian Charge d’Affaires in Azerbaijan Vija Buša and other officials.

The exhibition organized jointly with the Embassy of Latvia in Azerbaijan covers the poetry of one of the most distinguished poetic geniuses of the Orient Mewlana Jalaluddin Rumi. The ideas of Rumi, who lived and created in the 13th century, were devoted to spiritual growth and perfection.

The works of famous Latvian artist Ieva Krūmiņa and the world-famous photojournalist Reza Deghati are put on display at the exhibition, which will run until April 3.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Latvian Chargé d’Affaires in Azerbaijan Vija Buša noted that today’s exhibition is an important event for Latvia. She emphasized that the exhibition was organized thanks to the two countries` joint efforts and presents the similarity between the two nations.

Vija Buša pointed out that the embassy of Latvia in Azerbaijan attaches special importance to projects in the field of art. She noted that the embassy contributes to the relations and dialogue between Latvia and Azerbaijan in the cultural area.

The President of the Latvian Republic Egils Levits noted that the name of the exhibition, which reflects the culture of various nations, aimed at uniting different nations and cultures. Calling the exhibition a bright example of bridges between the two countries, the President of Latvia thanked the Heydar Aliyev Center for organizing the event. He noted that the Heydar Aliyev Center is one of the beautiful examples of modern architecture. “By holding such joint cultural events, we get even closer to each other,” Egils Levits said.

The author Ieva Krūmiņa, whose works are presented at the exhibition, expressed her satisfaction with the participation in the event held at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
