AZERBAIJANI FM MEETS WITH DIRECTOR OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE FOR SOUTH-SOUTH COOPERATION

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Director of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) Dima Al-Khatib on the sidelines of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5).

The meeting revolved around the role of aids in technological, social protection, healthcare, education and other fields in development of the least developed countries, as well as the possibilities of cooperation in providing assistance towards that end.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the assistance provided by Azerbaijan to the least developed countries. The FM also spoke about the country`s educational grant programmes for citizens of the members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

FM Bayramov provided insight into the post-conflict situation in the region, as well as Azerbaijan’s peace-building efforts, the normalization of relations with Armenia, rebuilding projects in the liberated territories and the ongoing mine threats. The minister also touched upon the Armenia`s provocations and the obstacles this country has created for the peace process.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
