According to the State Statistics Committee, Azerbaijan’s transport system served 1 billion 24.9 million passengers between January and August 2022. With this in mind, MTM (Media Analysis Center) surveyed people’s opinions on public transport.
42% of the 1,733 survey participants were women, and 58% were men.
According to the responses to the first question, 86% of respondents use public transport regularly, while 12.1% use it rarely. 1.9% of participants responded that they do not use public transport.
The results show that 62.1% of respondents use buses, 26.8% use the subway, 8.7% use cabs, and 2.4% use high-speed trains.
52.6% of respondents would like to use streetcars, 34.6% – the subway, and 12.8% – trolley buses.
Respondents were asked to select the most important issues impeding the efficiency of public transportation from a list of options. The responses were as follows:
Long intervals in bus schedules – 72.3%;
Traffic congestion – 69.5%;
Lack of large-capacity buses – 33.2%;
Drivers – 30.2%;
Passengers – 19%.
