5.2-MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE JOLTS MANY CITIES IN PAKISTAN

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake on Tuesday jolted capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in a statement.

The tremors of the earthquake were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Abbottabad and other cities. The intensity of the earthquake was 5.2 on the Richter scale with no loss of life or property reported so far from any part of the country.

Residents in the affected areas said the tremors caused panic, forcing people to rush out of their homes and offices. The earthquake occurred at 10:20am PST with its origin at the depth of 190 kilometres and epicentre in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region.
