AZERBAIJAN’S MEDIA DEVELOPMENT AGENCY: SEVERAL SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS DISSEMINATED FABRICATED STATEMENTS ALLEGEDLY MADE ON BEHALF OF AZERBAIJANI STATE OFFICIALS

“Several social media accounts have disseminated fabricated statements, allegedly made on behalf of several state officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan using deepfake technology, which do not reflect reality,” the Media Development Agency of Azerbaijan said in a statement.

“We emphasize that a series of fake video materials generated with the help of artificial intelligence and spread across the information space by certain groups are a blatant example of manipulation aimed at misleading public opinion. We urge the public to rely solely on information provided by official sources and to obtain information reflecting the state’s official position from national news agencies and other professional media outlets. We call on Azerbaijani citizens, journalists, and civil society activists to always uphold a principled stance against such incidents and to remain vigilant in an environment where fake and false information-based campaigns and the trend of content creation using deepfake technologies are on the rise,” the Agency added.
