FIRST UZBEKISTAN-AZERBAIJAN INTER-PARLIAMENTARY FORUM HOSTS PANEL DISCUSSIONS AND MEETINGS

The opening ceremony of the First Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Inter-parliamentary Forum in Khiva, was followed by panel discussions.

The MPs of the Azerbaijani delegation also participated and made speeches during the sessions.

The first panel session dedicated to the role of parliaments in the development of strategic partnership was moderated by Ali Huseynli, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Building. Arzu Naghiyev, Chairman of the Parliament`s Committee on Defense, Security and Combating Corruption, Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Affairs, and MP Amina Aghazadeh made speeches on the topic.

The second panel discussion on the parliamentary support for economic progress was moderated by MP Ziyad Samadzadeh. The deputies Azar Karimli, Azar Badamov, and Tahir Mirkishili addressed the panel.

The third panel discussion, moderated by MP Bakhtiyar Aliyev, focused on intellectual capital and digital transformation. It featured speeches from Musa Guliyev, Chairman of the Labor and Social Policy Committee, as well as MPs Samir Valiyev, Fariz Ismayilzadeh, and Polad Bulbuloglu, Chairman of the Culture Committee of the Milli Majlis.

The fourth panel session, moderated by MPs Gunay Afandiyeva, Javanshir Feyziyev, and Mushfig Mammadli, was dedicated to inter-parliamentary cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, and health.

The fifth panel session of the forum, moderated by Deputy Fatma Yildirim, focused on a green future and the fight against climate change. MPs Nigar Arpadarai and Eyvaz Gurbanov shared their views.

The sixth and final panel session was dedicated to the voice of women and youth in the development of society. Hijran Huseynova, Chair of the Parliament’s Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Affairs, moderated the session. Delegation members Konul Nurullayeva and Nigar Mammadova also delivered speeches.

As part of the forum, deputies of the Milli Majlis held meetings with their Uzbek counterparts.

The parties hailed the importance of the forum as a new mechanism for enhanced inter-parliamentary cooperation.

They also emphasized the successful development of relations between the two countries under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
