The International Symposium of Ombudsmen themed “Strengthening the Rule of Law: The Role of Ombudsmen and National Human Rights Institutions” got underway in Baku on June 18.
The symposium commenced with an address by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the event’s participants. The address was read out by Azerbaijani Minister of Justice Farid Ahmadov.
The symposium will feature panel discussions on the topics of “Ensuring Constitutional Rights through Ombudsmen and National Human Rights Institutions,” “Ensuring Equal Rights for All: Positive Experiences and Challenges,” and “Strengthening International Cooperation in Refugee Rights Protection and Positive Experiences,” with the participation of local and foreign experts, as well as heads of ombudsmen and national human rights institutions.
