OFFICIAL RECEPTION HELD IN KENYA ON THE OCCASION OF THE OPENING OF THE AZERBAIJANI EMBASSY

On June 3, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Kenya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov attended an official reception held in Nairobi to mark May 28 – Independence Day and the official opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kenya.

The event began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Kenya.

In his speech, Jeyhun Bayramov informed participants about the legacy of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which in 1918 became the first secular, democratic, and legal state in the Muslim East; the efforts made to strengthen the independence restored in 1991; and Azerbaijan’s contributions to the regional peace and cooperation agenda.

He also highlighted the visionary and wise leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev from 1993 to 2003, as well as the political, economic, and social achievements of Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty following the Patriotic War of 2020 and the local anti-terror measures conducted in 2023.

He noted that Azerbaijan’s cooperation with African countries is based on mutual benefit and shared goals, and the opening of the embassy in Kenya marks the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations.

Jeyhun Bayramov thanked the guests and extended sincere congratulations and appreciation on behalf of the Azerbaijani people to the Kenyan partners for celebrating Independence Day together. He expressed confidence that this friendship and cooperation would continue to grow stronger.

The guest of honor at the official reception, Hassan Ali Joho, Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, delivered remarks.

He highly valued the development of friendly and cooperative relations between Kenya and Azerbaijan and shared his thoughts on Azerbaijan’s role in the international arena.

The event featured Azerbaijani music and video presentations showcasing the country’s culture and tourism potential.

The reception was attended by representatives of the Kenyan government and parliament, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, the public and media, as well as members of the Azerbaijani community.
